Larry Simpson

Larry Simpson, age 82, passed away August 16, 2021. He was born May 5, 1939 to the late Stanley and Loretta (Piel) Simpson in Waverly, IA. Larry graduated from Waverly High School in 1958. He married Carol Knudson on January 21, 1961 in Waverly, IA- to this union, 5 children were born. The couple recently celebrated their 60th anniversary this last January. Larry served in the US Air Force for 5 years, worked for Kitty Clover for 25 years and retired from Yellow Freight at age 55. He joined the Eagles in 1972 and was Aeirie President from 1976-1977, Iowa State President from 1992-1993 and held the office of West Central Regional President in 2018 to 2019. He won many trophies, certificates for ritual being first in the position he held. Larry was an avid bowler, fisherman, golfer and loved his yard and flowers and camping. He was a great dancer- he was smooth and light on his feet- he taught his daughters and granddaughters to dance. He was a kind, honest, gentle, and loving man. He loved his family and the Eagles were like second family.

Larry is survived by wife, Carol Simpson; children, Janie (Bill) Vanderpool, Cindy Simpson, Tami (Rod) Kammrad, Susan (Cliff) Ottesen, Kevin Simpson (Suzy); siblings, Howard (Karen), Byron (Mary), and Delbert (Eunice) Simpson, and Gloria (Steve) Wedeking; 15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the service. The family will direct memorials.
