Almeda Faye Diwoky, age 97, passed away May 11, 2018, at the Valhaven Care Center in Valley.
She was born in Crescent, Iowa on March 15, 1921 to the late Robert and Maratha (Voss) Dilts.
Almeda graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1938.
Almeda worked as a homemaker and alongside her husband at their Golden Horse Diner, Ewald’s Drive-In and D.J.’s Restaurant before entering public service in the Pottawattamie County Assessor’s Office until retirement, when she went to work part-time for the family business, Sunset Speedway, for many years. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Donald; and siblings Evelyn, Elizabeth, Robert, Anna Mae, Clifford, Barbara and Dale.
Almeda is survived by her beloved daughter Sharon Kelley; her grandsons Craig Kelley (Kerry) and Michael Kelley (Leesa); great grandchildren Christopher, Brendan and Caitlin Kelley; sister, Eileen Martin; sisters-in-law, Ruth Dilts and Anita Dilts; numerous nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
Her Memorial Service will be Wednesday, 6 p.m., at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The family will receive friends during the 2 hours prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials will be directed by the family.
