Anna Mae Mcmullen

Anna Mae McMullen, 92, of Council Bluffs, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at Creighton University Hospital, Anna Mae was born February 17, 1923 to the late Robert and Martha (Voss) Dilts of Crescent, Iowa. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1940. She married Eldred McMullen December 27, 1944. Together they raised five children on the farm in Underwood. She retired in 1985 after more than 30 years as a 1st Grade teacher at Roosevelt Grade School. Anna was very proud of her countless hours as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred, granddaughter Mary Martha Beitz, grandson Eric Green, parents, and siblings Elizabeth Ossian, Evelyn Dilts, Robert Dilts, Clifford Dilts, Barbara Honig, and Dale Dilts. She is survived by her children, Janet Beitz of Minocqua, WI, Phyllis McMullen of Underwood, Carol DeLong of Dekalb, IL, Martha Green of Council Bluffs, and Douglas (Wendy) McMullen of Spencer, IA. Also surviving are her grandchildren Anna (Mark) Gilbert, Lara Beitz, Joshua DeLong, Zachary (Tanya) DeLong, Allison (Adam) Kerndt, Lindsay (Brent) Hannapel, Kathleen (Nathan) Westphal, and Christopher (Angie) McMullen, sisters Almeda Diwoky of Omaha and Eileen Martin of Council Bluffs and sisters-in-law Ruth Dilts, Anita Dilts, and Shirley McDonald. She is also survived by her 16 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation is Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be Friday 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment is in the Hazel Dell Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Hazel Dell United Methodist Church.
