Audra Lynn Babcock, age 31, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away October 19, 2013. Audra was born in Phillipsburg, Kan., where she grew up with loving grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. There were happy memories of the cousins playing together on Don and Gloria's creek (Audra's grandparents) and many other family gatherings. Some may remember Audra as a tomboy, who loved to get dirty and get into mischief outside, as well as be around horses. Audra moved with her mother and brothers to Wahoo, Neb., in 1996. "The new kid" quickly became one of the most popular girls in school and gained lifelong friendships. Her always-strong work ethic was shown through school activities and after-school jobs. She took great care of her little brother, Bronson, whom her friends grew to love, too. And she and Cindy were a good team, helping each other adjust to their new life in Nebraska. For Audra, she put family first and was always known as a truly caring, thoughtful and loyal person. Audra married Terry Betts, and they were blessed with precious Chandler. Chandler was the light of her life, and she worked her hardest to provide the best for him. She talked about Chandler all the time. She was so proud of the young man he's becoming. Audra and Chandler loved to go to the movies and do 5k runs together. From her nursing career to her new schooling in exercise and nutrition, and especially with friends and family, Audra always put passion behind her life. She was inquisitive about learning, and was known to many as a trainer, mentor and friend. She helped coach a softball team for 13/14-year-old girls. They loved that she would sit in the dugout with them to chat, take pictures and just be goofy. Audra's beautiful smile and laugh will remain with us always. One thing is certain, she was a beautiful person, inside and out. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon & Cindy (Basford) Babcock; grandmother, Audrey Basford and brother, Bronson Babcock. Audra is survived by her son, Chandler Betts; brother, Barrett Babcock; paternal grandparents, Don & Gloria Babcock; maternal grandfather, Phil Basford. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Schank officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the Memorial Service in the Hoy-Kilnoski Community Room. Memorials are to be directed to Barrett Babcock or Terry Betts for her son Chandler Betts.
