Avis Ellen Kuhfahl Age 77 of Minden, Iowa passed away January 30, 2025. Avis was born April 14, 1947 in Lawrence County, Ohio to the late William and Rosie Lee (Elliott) Smith. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems. She was employed numerous years in telecommunications, starting as a clerk and advancing to plant line assigner, Management and Engineering Support. Avis first was employed with Northwestern Bell as well as Quest, First Data and Cox Communications.
She enjoyed quilting, cooking, spending time with family, researching family genealogy, traveling, her beloved dogs and selling Pampered Chef.
Avis was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary McKenzie (Joe) and Edna Richter (Kurt); brothers, John Adkins (Shirley), James Smith (Kay), Harold Smith (Carol) and Albert Adkins; step-son, Kirk Kuhfahl; brother-in-law, Dennis Gerber and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Adkins and Maralyn Adkins.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill; children, Brian and Andrea Bashore, Jim and Melissa Bashore and Duane and Gabrielle Bashore; step children, William Jr. and Lynn Kuhfahl and Jennie and Matan Grasiani; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons; brother, Emory and Paula Smith and Beecher and Juanita Adkins; sister, Ethel Murdock; brother-in-law, John Jr. and Carol Kuhfahl; sisters-in-law, Katie Kuhfahl and Carol Ann Gerber and many beloved nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
A Celebration of Life for Avis will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 8, 2025 with a Visitation starting at 1:00 P.M. at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home, 1221 N. 16th St. Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Memorials are suggested to Community of Christ Thrift Store and Woodland Community Bible Church.
