Barbara was born at home on June 3, 1927, in Pulaski, Iowa. She grew up on the family dairy farm, attended a one room school and graduated from Pulaski High School in 1945. She and Richard married on February 23, 1945. They created a home and raised 6 wonderful children, the eldest, a daughter, followed by five sons. She moved to Columbus, Ohio, in 1969, with her husband and dear friends to create a new business and life. She enjoyed life to the fullest, always remaining connected to her Iowa roots.

She was a hardworking and determined woman, who survived and thrived through all of life's joys and sorrows. Her faith and spiritual beliefs were her foundation and important to her. She grew up in the Pulaski Mennonite Church and was a member of Riverside Methodist Church in Upper Arlington for many years.

Barbara was an extraordinarily talented seamstress, with beginnings in hometown 4H and the Iowa State Fair, making many garments for her family and herself. She lovingly created and altered the gowns for her family for their special days and weddings. She worked at and eventually owned Busch's Bridal Shop for 30 years and continued working out of her home altering wedding gowns well into her mid 80s. She volunteered with the Sewing Guild at Riverside Methodist Hospital, making many comfort care items for those in need.

A graveside service for family will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 1:00pm, where she will be interred beside her husband and sons in the family burial plot in Pulaski Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in central Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to St. Croix Hospice, 1920 Rue St #3, Council Bluffs, IA 51503. Special thanks to her nurse, Jordan, and all who cared for our mother for their loving and tender care in her final days. Arrangements by Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home and Crematory, 1221 N 16th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501.
