Beatrice E. Briggs

Beatrice E. (Schmidt) Briggs, age 91, passed away April 28, 2016. She was born April 3, 1925 to Oliver and Ella (Danker) Schmidt near Minden, Iowa and was one of three children. She attended grade school in York Township and graduated from Minden High School in 1943. Beatrice married L. Earl Briggs on February 23, 1944 and they were the parents of three daughters. They farmed near Carson and Minden until 1960 at which time they moved to Council Bluffs. Bea retired from Mutual of Omaha in 1987 after 27 years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl to whom shed been married 56 years at the time of his passing; granddaughter, Andrina Swenson and grandson, Rick Clark. Beatrice is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Dave Roberts, Janelle and Paul Swenson, Rhonda and Gary Mousel; twin sisters, Doris Ploen and Doloris Mauer and her husband Paul; sister-in-law, Leta Hoagland; grandchildren, Rev. Dr. David Clark (Rev. Dayna Kinkade), Michell Houseton (Matt), Katherine Swenson-Beck (Ian), Aaron Swenson, Chris Roberts (Amy), Christy Roberts, Doug Mousel (Connie), Lynn Mousel, Kerry Pearson (Graham Winstone); great grandchildren, Milissa Clark (Matt Drottz), Jennifer Clark, Candace Allen (David), Tristyn Roberts, Skylar Roberts, Brendan Roberts, Anna Mousel, Donovan Mousel, Erin Winstone; great-great grandson, Parker Drottz; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends. Visitation is 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Interment is in the Ridgewood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Minden United Church of Christ.
