Betty Jean (Johannsen) Adams

September 7, 1931 — March 30, 2017

Betty Jean Adams was born in 1931 in Denison, Iowa to Otto and Margaret (Raine) Johannsen.

She was an honor student and drum majorette in Denison High School. She had a friendship with seven girls and they were called the 7UP Club. They remained close during their lifetimes.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles E. Johannsen.

Betty married Rex G. Adams in October of 1949. They had two sons, Rex Alan and Jay Brian Adams. They enjoyed their life on the farm near Kirkman. They were active workers in the poultry production of both turkeys and chickens during their farming operation. Betty enjoyed swimming, painting and won awards as a quilter and had many quilting friends at the Methodist Church in Denison. She also enjoyed traveling with Rex and visited 21 different countries and many places within the United States. Betty and Rex sponsored the Methodist Youth Fellowship at the Kirkman Church.

Betty died on March 30, 2017 at the age of 85. She is survived by her husband, Rex G. Adams; her two sons and daughters in law, Rex A. (Cindy) and Jay B. (Roxanne) Adams; 6 grandchildren, Alison (husband Don Cook), Rex C. (wife Angela), Aaron, Quinn, Arianna and Elise Adams; 6 great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held April 29, Saturday 2 to 4PM at the Kirkman Center in Kirkman, Iowa.
