Bill Norman Pelton was born April 11th 1942 to the late Harold “Bill” Pelton and Beulah Meier Pelton in Woodbine Iowa. Bill was raised in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in the class of 1960. Bill played high school football and worked the family farm. After graduating from high school he attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha, majoring in accounting and business administration. Bill was a huge Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan and would pass the love of Husker football on to his children. Bill married Sandi Ahrendsen in 1965.
In 1967 Bill enlisted in the United States Army alongside his brother Don and would eventually become a Primary Marksmanship Instructor, teaching soldiers how to shoot before they were shipped to Vietnam. Bill’s service ended in 1971 and he would eventually open his first service station in Omaha. As a mechanic he would own and operate several different service station locations throughout Omaha over the next 35 years. In addition to running his business Bill also co-owned and operated PELCO Family Farms in Woodbine with his brothers Don and Jim and their families.
