Bonna M. Brooks was called home to her heavenly father on July 12, 2018. She was born in Dow City, Iowa on April 24, 1930 to the late Andrew and Ruby (Keairnes) Anderson. Bonna worked for the Council Bluffs Community School District for 23 years and then logged more than nine thousand hours as a volunteer at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. She held membership in the WCA – Women’s Christian Association and Community of Christ Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband; grandson, Adam Weed; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Bonna is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dick Brooks; children, Deb Lorence (Don); John “Rollie” Weed (Jane), Kim Parker (Terry), Sandy Whittington (Curt); Lori Hiller (Rex); grandchildren, Sarah Barnes (Nolan), Marc Lorence (Lauren), Sean Weed (Karissa), Chris Weed, Brooks Parker (Trisha), Scott Parker (Casey), Todd Parker (Rachel), Emily Little (Michael), Erin Whittington (Jordan), Chad Hiller (Heather), Katie Moran (Shawn); 19 precious great grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Kauffman (Don), Betty Nuzum, Peggy Roberts (Dave); sister-in-law, Peggy Anderson; nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is 1:00p.m. on Tuesday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Visitation will be during the hour prior to the service. Interment is in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Jennie Edmundson Volunteer Services or the Council Bluffs Public Library.
