Brian Keith Mcdowell

Brian Keith McDowell Sr., age 42 of Council Bluffs passed away June 12, 2012 after a long battle with heart disease. He was born in Council Bluffs on August 30, 1969 to Raymond E & Sharon K. (Morford) McDowell. He worked as a roofer, a trade he was taught by his father and some of his elder brothers. He was for some time a co-owner of McDowell Roofing. He took a great deal of pride in his craft, he worked in every capacity he could. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond. Brian is survived by his mother, Sharon McDowell; daughters, Brandee Bennett (Keith), Mia Wilson; sons, James Wilson, Brian McDowell Jr. (Suzanne), Devon Theisen; brothers, Clint McDowell, Jeff McDowell (Gayle), Rick McDowell, Greg McDowell (Kim), Michael Shannon; sisters, Sindy Booth (Shane), Lori McDowell; 7 grandchildren and 1 on the way; a host of other family and friends. Visitation is Saturday 2-4PM at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home and Crematory. Please join the family for a reception in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski following the visitation. The family will direct memorials. The family is large, the family bonds are strong, and the love developed by those bonds is eternal, this is his legacy. His family.....and especially his children and grandchildren meant the world to him, and he meant the world to a great many people in return, he will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. He holds a special place in the hearts of so many. His passing though far too early, frees him of the pain of his strained existence, for that much we can begrudgingly relieved. Rest well,Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Cousin, Uncle, Friends, you have earned your peace. We, those left behind can call upon and use that peace which you have attained, as an aid to help us find our own solace in your departure. Once again you lend a hand to us.....selflessly tending to others.....even in your parting.
