Carol Palmer

Carol Palmer, age 77, passed away November 11, 2023. She was born December 1, 1945 to the to the late Zernie and Naomi Harold in Council Bluffs, IA. Carol's passion for caring for others led her to pursue a career as a Medical Assistant, where she became known for her compassionate and attentive nature. Carol married her best friend, David Palmer, with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring bond of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and endless memories. Their home served as a haven of warmth and hospitality not only for their children and grandchildren but also where they welcomed and hosted 13 contestants as they served on the Board of Iowa Junior Miss. Carol enjoyed her time spent at the Cedar Creek ladies golf, Irving Club, and at the numerous card clubs in the Ottumwa, IA community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother; brother, Dennis (Judy) Harold; sister-in-law, Gretchen Mathews.

Carol is survived by her husband, David Palmer; children, Laurie (Jeff) Bergholz, and Jeff (Maxine) Palmer; grandchildren, Danielle (Darrell) Stegeman; Kellie (Rad) Mitchell, Sidney Bergholz, Shelby Bergholz (James), Devon (Helen) Prekkerpalmer, Claire Palmer (Noah) and Aubrey Palmer; great grandchildren, Zoey Flannigan, Kenzie Stegeman, Sophie Stegeman, McCoy Mitchell; brother, Terry (Janelle) Harold; brother-in-law, Dan Mathews; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 p.m on Thursday, November 16, 2023 with special remarks in celebration of her life to begin at 1:00p.m at Hoy Kilnoski Community Room. Memorials are suggested to St. Croix Hospice.
