Carolyn Sue Hemmingsen passed away December 16, 2023. She was born on July 1, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa, to Clarence and Dorothy Kruse.
Sue is survived by her loving husband Roger, of 40 years; daughters Vicki (Kevin) Ehlers, Cari (Rob) Pfohl, Tami O'Konsky, Marti (Rocky) Richards, Amy Hemmingsen and son Brad Hemmingsen; siblings Marie Lindon and Virginia (Cookie) Johnson; sisters-in-law Janice (Dale) Ward, Marilyn (Ted) Linkletter and Lelo Hemmingsen; brother-in-law Reid (Laura) Hemmingsen; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Sue was preceded in death by her brothers Clarence "Jim" Kruse and Warren "Bud" Kruse.
Sue, along with her husband Roger, enjoyed traveling; many cruises, bus trips, and Amtrack trips. They traveled the USA to visit siblings, friends, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Sue loved her OBI golf group and spur-of-the-moment golf trips with Roger and golfing friends. She was known to never meet a stranger. She believed in creating and serving community and enjoyed many hours of volunteer work with the Neola Community Center, meal site, and the Pheonix Theater. She created many opportunities for gathering and entertainment in their basement and on their back porch.
No services will be held at this time per Sue's wishes. Memorials may be offered in memory of Sue Hemmingsen to the Neola Community Center, Attn: Meal Site, 110 4th St. Neola, IA, 51559.
