Carolyn Jean Schnepel

Carolyn Jean Schnepel, age 68, passed away May 16, 2014. She was born in Council Bluffs on September 20, 1945 to Carroll & Opal (Strong) Needham. Carolyn grew up on the family farm near Hancock, Iowa and graduated from Oakland High School. She later married Marlyn Schnepel and together they farmed for many years. She was a member of the Hancock United Methodist Church and was a volunteer at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital, once being named volunteer of the month. She is preceded in death by her father, Carroll Needham and a sister, Elaine Robuck. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 49 years, Marlyn Schnepel; sons, David Schnepel (Betty) and Danny Schnepel (Mary Ellen Stanton); mother, Opal Kruse; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret & Gordon Renfeld, Diana & Dennis Dahl, Rosie & Paul Rathman; she especially loved her 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Visitation is Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral home. Funeral service is Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a luncheon in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Interment is later that afternoon in the Minden, Iowa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Hancock United Methodist Church.
