Charles Gene Peoples

Charles Gene Peoples, age 59, passed away peacefully May 18, 2023 in Katy, TX. He was the life partner of Teresa Haskell. They shared 22 years together.

Charles was born in Council Bluffs, IA to Clyde & Betty (Stephens) Peoples. He graduated from Omaha North High School in 1981. He then went on to a successful career in the hotel & beverage industry.

Charles had a spiritual relationship with God. He enjoyed sports and spending time golfing, fishing and spending time with friends & family. He had a strong sense of community service including coaching football at the North Omaha Boys Club and volunteering for the Mike Jones Foundation and Sprint for Life. Charles was an avid sports fan, watching football and baseball. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys & OU Sooners fan, eventually adding Houston Astros to his list of favorites. He also followed Omaha North Vikings high school football. He will be remembered for his strong personality, loud voice and his caring ways.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Dale Peters.

Charles is survived by his life partner, Teresa Haskell; his children, Shallona U. Booth and Charles (Sharonna) Callaway; stepchildren, Simone & Jasmine Robinson and 13 grandchildren; brothers, Jim "Jackson" Peters, Clyde (Andrea) Peoples, Bruce (Eliza) Peoples, Shawn (Robin) Peoples, and Tracy (Karyn) Peoples; sisters, Zennobia Peoples-Parham, Betty "Dianne" Valentine, Kathy Moyer, Mary Peoples, Lynnobia Peoples and Charlene (Edward "Eugene") Peoples-Pierce along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family, friends and others whose lives Charles touched are invited to HOY-KILNOSKI FUNERAL HOME, 1221 N 16th St, Council Bluffs, IA on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11am to celebrate his life. There will be a viewing held at 10am. Repast will be held directly after the services.  The family will direct memorials.
