Charlotte Moreland

Charlotte M. Moreland, age 77, passed away on September 8, 2024, at the home she shared with her daughter, Nikki.

She was born on May 22, 1947 to the late James C. Sr., and Anna (Waldron) Dunning in Joliet, Illinois. At the age of 9, the family all moved from Illinois to Council Bluffs, IA. Charlotte graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with the Class of 1965. In 1969, she met and married Eugene Moreland.

Charlotte worked for various Trucking Companies in her younger years, but became a stay at home Mom for a few years, when her children were young. Later she worked for Oriental Trading Company for nearly 20 years, before deciding in 2005 that she wanted a change. She packed up and moved to Alaska for a couple of years, where her daughter Nikki lived at the time, before finding her way back to Iowa. Charlotte then took a job at her alma mater, TJHS, as the Attendance Secretary, where she worked until her retirement in 2018.

Charlotte loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, camping, dolphins, attending craft shows with her daughters, playing games on her computer and with her family, reading and going out to eat with her family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and could give you one of the best hugs you ever had.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Eugene "Skip" Moreland, Jr.; her sister, Charlene "Sherry" Sulentic; two brothers, James Dunning, Jr., and Bill Kanaley; stepbrother, Bob Stoddard; stepfather, Noel "Rocky" Stoddard; and ex-husband, Eugene Moreland, Sr.

She is survived by daughters, Michele Alvarado (Antonio) and Nikki Moreland; son, Matthew Moreland (Tonya); sister, Candace Merrifield (Mike); eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren (with her 7th due in February 2025).

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, September 13, 2024. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the family.
