Cheri Nielsen was born in Creston, Iowa on September 15, 1946 to Rita Nielsen and grew up in Atlantic, Iowa. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1966.
Cheri received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1970 and was named on the “Deans Honor List”. She obtained her Master’s Degree in 1978 with an endorsement in administration from Creighton University.
Cheri taught at Woodrow Wilson Junior High for 38 years. She was an outstanding educator and she truly loved teaching. While in the district, she served on numerous committees and was involved in many activities. She and her team of teachers were always trying to earn money for their team. Believe it or not, the team actually sold huge dill pickles and the students loved them.
Cheri loved her dog lucky and her cats. They were always a comfort to her until it was time to take them to the vet. Cheri was a shopper; “Do I need this?” No, “Do I like this?” Yes, “Should I buy this?” Absolutely! Her cart was usually full by the time she reached the checkout lane. What Cheri tremendously enjoyed was her garden; full of beautiful flowers, tomatoes and eggplants.
Not only does Cheri leave behind a legacy that will be hard to follow, but she also leaves behind many friends who will miss her.
