Cheryl Spencer

Cheryl Irene Spencer, age 63, passed away October 25, 2024. She was born June 28, 1961 to the late David and Karen (Turk) Larson in Council Bluffs, IA.

Cheryl graduated from Underwood High School, with the Class of 1979. She married her husband, John Spencer in March of 1984. She worked at Mutual of Omaha for 22 years, then in 2007 she started working for United Healthcare, retiring in 2023. Cheryl had an infectious laugh that could fill the room, a great sense of humor and an unwavering love for her family and cats. She enjoyed time with her family, especially week-long adventures with her granddaughter, reading, vacationing with family in Northeast Iowa (Decorah), Southeast Minnesota (Winona) and Door County, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Brian Larson.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, John Spencer; son, Jesse (Stephanie) Spencer; granddaughter, Zoey Spencer; sisters-in-law, Kim (Juan) Larson, Rhonda (Earl) Johnson, Amy (Rodger) Spencer; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; cats, Lola and Stella; and a host of other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00PM - 5:00PM at the McClelland Town Hall on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Please direct memorials to the Humane Society in Council Bluffs.
