Chester Moore

Chester Ray Moore, age 82, passed away on February 25, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Chester Ray Moore was born May 26, 1942 to Hollis and Hazel Moore in Thayer, Iowa. He attended kindergarten, at a country school in Talmadge. His family moved to Afton where he then attended school through graduation. He enrolled in business college in Des Moines, but he had met a girl who was going to Council Bluffs for nursing school. They were married May 15, 1964. Chet and Virginia (Ginny) had 3 children - Danny (Laura) whom they lived with in Las Vegas, NV, Laura Louise Moore in Virginia, and Marty (Leigh) who lives in Underwood, Iowa.

Chet was active in his community. He enjoyed being a part of the Optimist, Hazel Dell Methodist Church, UMBA, and others. Chet was especially proud to be involved in Boy Scouts. He became Cub Master for several years and then Scoutmaster. He loved doing ceremony's. He and his wife created an Indian outfit with a full feather headdress. He taught ceremony's at a regional Powwow at UNO. He was in Scouting for 16 years. Chet enjoyed camping with his Assistant Scoutmaster Donn Galloway, even winter camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; two sisters; nephews and niece.

Chet is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ginny; his children, Danny (Laura), Laura Louise Moore, and Marty (Leigh); his sister, Norma Thompson of Troy, Tenn; granddaughter, Alicia (Dennis); great grandsons, (Dawson), Ashley (Brian), Amelia (Matt); great grandchildren, (Landon and Emerson), Grace, Zoey, and Ava; grandsons, Clayton, Wyatt and Karter; and a host of friends and acquaintances.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, March 14, 2025. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, March 14, 2025. Interment is in the Hazel Dell Cemetery.
