Conrad E. Knickman, age 68, of Council Bluffs, passed away January 4, 2012, at the Hospice with Heart Hospice House in Glenwood. He was born in Council Bluffs, February 20, 1943, to the late Emil and Ethel (Pope) Knickman. Conrad was in the last graduating class of the Silver City High School. In 1966, Conrad joined the Iowa State Patrol as a State Trooper and retired in 1994. After his retirement from the patrol he worked at the Federal Halfway House. Conrad had a love for cars and also sold them at both Anderson Ford in Missouri Valley and Johnson Ford in Denison. While living in Dunlap he served on the Dunlap School Board and Dunlap City Council. Conrad enjoyed playing cards, hunting, Mud dragging, showing show cars and for the last 6 years, Garden Tractor Pulling. He most enjoyed and was proud of his two grandchildren. One of Conrad’s favorite things to do was to have a bag of M & M’s in his shirt pocket for Cooper. Conrad is survived by his wife, Neta (Shinn) Knickman; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jennifer Knickman; grandchildren, Cooper Bryan and Addyson Rose; sister, Helen Herren; a host of other family and friends. Visitation is Friday, 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral Service is Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Special honors tendered by the Iowa State Patrol Honor Guard. A reception will follow in the Hoy-Kilnoski Community Room. The family will direct memorials.
