Daniel Frank Spiker

Daniel Frank Spiker, age 88, of Council Bluffs passed away May 12, 2016. He was born in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia on June 12, 1927 to the late Floyd and Sarah (Fox) Spiker. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad. Frank had also worked for Teleweld and Gould. After his retirement in 1989, he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends. Frank was a member of American Legion Rainbow Post #2 and a lifetime member of the VFW #737. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; infant son, Daniel Spiker Jr.; brother, Bill Spiker; sister, Lucille Murphy. Frank is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Jim Winchester. Lucy and Craig Hough, Janice and Donnie Watts; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Shelly Spiker; brother, Hamil Spiker; sisters, Noel Waugh and Lola Carpenter; 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 10 great grandchildren, 3 step-grandsons; special friend, Lila Lewis; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends. Visitation is 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment is in Cedar Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Rainbow Post #2. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Southwest Iowa.
