Darlene (Hartje) Owens passed away June 19, 2013 at 86 years. She was born in Council Bluffs on April 2, 1927 to the late George and Edna (Guttau) Hartje. She graduated from Treynor High School in 1945. She married Glenn Owens February 2, 1947 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Treynor. They farmed near Oakland and Quick until 1955 when they moved to CA. Darlene ran a day care in her home for many years. In 1992 they returned to the Treynor area. Darlene was a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church and U.M.W. She was a 50 year member of Amber Star #328. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lamar, Darrell, Waldon & Lowell Hartje. Darlene is survived by her husband, Glenn Owens of Treynor, IA; daughters, Cynthia Ronald and her husband, Greg, of Garden Grove, CA; Peggy Eshelman and her husband, Eric, of Anaheim Hills, CA; Rebecca MacIntosh and her husband, Bruce, of Irvine, CA; Barbara Sowersby and her husband, Gary, of Placentia, CA; son, Steve Owens and his wife, Amy, of Treynor, IA; sisters-in-law, Irene Caldwell of Scottsdale, AZ., Thirza Hartje of McClelland, IA., Eva Hartje of McClelland, IA., Audrey Hartje of Oakland, IA., June Owens of Valencia, CA.; brother-in-law, Jack Owens of Monroe, MI. 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Darlene enjoyed her flowers & had done many needle point pictures. She and her husband had done a lot of traveling. They covered most the U.S as well as New Zealand, Australia, Europe. Hong Kong, Alaska, and they spent many winters in Arizona. Visitation is Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a luncheon in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Cortege will leave the funeral home after lunch for interment in the Hardin Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Treynor Fire and Rescue or Mt. Hope United Methodist Church.
