Darlene Petersen

Darlene Kolp Petersen was born on May 16, 1936 in Dawson, MN to Masquil and Bessie (McCaskey) Kolp. She attended grade school in Marietta, MN and Madison, MN. She graduate from Neligh, NE High School, after which she attended the Teachers College in Wayne, NE. Upon graduation, she taught in country schools. Darlene was married to Edwin Jim Petersen and two daughters were born from this union: Terrill and Lori. Darlene lived most of her life in Omaha enjoying her children, gardening, puzzles, and games, especially Chinese checkers. She had a real love for animals, including grooming dogs. In 1997, she committed her life to God and remained true to his choice as she was able. Her last days were spent in the loving care of her granddaughter, Danicas, home. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Charles Kolp. Those left to mourn her passing are daughters, Terrill Martinez and Lori Cabrera; sister, Kathe Kolp; brother, David Kolp; two step brothers, Keith and Duane Hopkins; step sister, Loyce Hopkins; grandchildren: Shane Martinez, Jade Serrano, Brent, Dustin, and Danica Cabrera, Jesse, Luke, and Levi Martinez; and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Cedar Dale Cemetery in Papillion. Family will direct memorials.
