Debora Carlson

Debora Lou (Wirkus) Carlson, age 67, of Council Bluffs, IA, passed away on January 4, 2024.

Debora was born on December 3, 1956 in Ames, IA and is a Ames High School Graduate. She then graduated from Drake University with a degree in English. She married Dave Carlson on June 18, 1982 and they moved to Council Bluffs. Debora's love of writing led to a job with the Daily Nonpareil as a reporter. She then went on to be a proposal writer for a few different companies, with the most recent being at Strategic Health Initiatives.

Debora was also an avid dancer, photographer and beloved mother of two. Her kind and emphatic heart made her a friend to anyone.

Debora is survived by her husband, Dave; father, Denton Wirkus; brother, Mike Wirkus; son, Coltrane and his wife, Melissa; daughter, Kylene; two grandchildren, Melody(granddaughter) and Miles(grandson), as well as other aunts and uncles.

Memorials are suggested to the National Alzheimer's Association in Debora's name.
