Delores Marie Schnoor

Delores Marie Schnoor, age 91, passed away November 28, 2018 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was born on the farm near Carson, Iowa on April 4, 1927 to the late Earl and Alma (Wahle) Schnepel.

Delores attended country school and graduated from Treynor High School in 1944. Earning a teaching certificate in April of 1945, Delores taught country school until her marriage to Donald E. Schnoor on May 25th, 1947. They made their home on the farm at Quick, Iowa. Seven children made the family complete. The couple retired from farming and moved to Council Bluffs in 1982.

Delores was a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church and was active for many years in the United Methodist Women’s group. She enjoyed bible studies and helping with fundraisers for the church. For many years, Delores kept busy by going to the senior center in Council Bluffs for activities. She also loved her plants and flowers and watching birds from her rocking chair.

Delores said she enjoyed every part of her life, from childhood to being a grandparent. She loved her kids and watching the grandkids grow up. When asked her secret to a long life, she always replied, “a positive attitude”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Schnoor, daughter, Barbara Krueger, siblings, Darleen Knox, Eldon Schnepel, Donna Mae Klahn and Lowell Schnepel.

Delores is survived by her children, Marian Jensen (Robert M.), Virginia Barrier, Donna Landis (Todd), Dale Schnoor, James Schnoor (Darlene), Amy Barrett; siblings Shirlene Goos, Jeanie Chambers (Steve), sister-in-law, Marlene Schnepel, 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

Memorial service is 2:00p.m. on Sunday December 2, 2018 at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Visitation will be during the hour prior to the service. Inurnment is in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Oakland, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Hope United Methodist Church.
