Deputy Mark Jason Burbridge

Mark Jason Burbridge, age 43, of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away on May 1, 2017 in the line of duty. He was born on August 26, 1973 to the late John and Donna Burbridge.

Mark grew up in California Junction and graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1991. He drove a truck and also worked as a mechanic, before beginning his career in law enforcement. Mark attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy 180th Basic Training, and began working for the Missouri Valley Police Department in 2000. He later worked for the Denison Police Department before being hired by the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office in 2005. Mark worked in a variety of positions, including Road Patrol, Investigations, Civil and Court Security.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, camping, fishing, muscle cars and motorcycles. Marks witty personality, and his infectious laugh left a lasting imprint on all who knew him.

Mark is survived by his wife Jessica, daughter Karley, son Kaleb, step-daughter Kelsey Brant, mother Donna, brother Michael and wife, Julie, brother Christopher, and sister Julie and husband Greg and a host of family and friends.

Law Enforcement Visitation – Saturday, May 6
A law enforcement-only visitation will take place on Saturday, May 6th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Non-uniformed officers must bring law enforcement identification to be allowed entry.

Public Visitation – Sunday, May 7
There will be a public visitation for Deputy Burbridge on Sunday, May 7th from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The visitation will take place at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Community members are welcome to attend.

Memorial Service – Monday, May 8
Deputy Mark Burbridge will be honored on Monday, May 8th at 10:00 AM. The service will take place at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Mid-America Center is located at 1 Arena Way in Council Bluffs. The public is welcome to attend the service.
