Donald "Don" Franklin Seidler, Sr. 1925 - 2015 Don was born in Council Bluffs Iowa, on March 31, 1925 and left us on the afternoon of May 9, 2015 due to complications of chronic heart disease. Don enjoyed a full, blessed life which began on the family farm in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and ended at his home in Boise, Idaho. Serving in the US Marine Corp during World War II, Don fought in two major battles, one on the Island of Peleliu and the other on Okinawa. At the end of the war, he was dispatched to China to assist with the liberation of the Chinese. Once discharged, he returned to the family farm to work alongside his brothers, Darrell and Frank Jr. Upon completing his education at the University of Denver, Don joined Utah Construction Company, a worldwide contracting and engineering company, where a contract in Lima, Peru began what would ultimately become an adventure in worldwide employment and travel. From Utah Construction Company Don moved to Guy F. Atkinson & Co in San Francisco, CA, and ultimately to Morrison Knudsen Company in Boise Idaho, where he retired. During Dons career he and his family lived in several different countries; capping his career with an around-the-world excursion which landed him once again on the Islands of Peleliu and Okinawa. Although devoted to his professional career, Don also relished time spent with family boating at nearby lakes and reservoirs, and snowmobiling the remote backwoods of Idaho. Another passion was time spent on the golf course; whether it was imparting his own course credo upon his grandsons, or challenging his friends at local tournaments. Don is survived by his wife, Angeline A. (Kula); his sons, David F. Seidler (Stevens), Dennis L. Seidler (Stevens), Thomas J. and Donald E. Seidler Jr.; daughter, Deborah K. Gaddie; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandsons; and his sister, Margaret. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Edna; brothers, Darrell & Frank Jr.; his sister, Francis; and his first wife Bette who died at a very young age. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 23, 2015 at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Cortege will leave the funeral home at 11:00a.m. for a graveside service in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Council Bluffs.
