Donald G. Birdsong

Donald G. Birdsong, age 81, passed away at his home on April 2, 2014 with his family at his side. He was born in Council Bluffs on September 20, 1932 to the late David and Clara (Bantrup) Birdsong. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the Council Bluffs School System as the head custodian at Gunn Elementary School. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 4 sisters. Donald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norma Birdsong; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley & William Pedersen, Barbara & Richard Corson, Donna & Richard White; 9 grandchildren, Benjamin, Nathan, Nicholas, Katherine and Kristopher Pedersen, Luke, Allysan and Jakob White, Mathew Corson and 3 great grandchildren. A luncheon and celebration of his life will be Saturday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in the community room at The Rose, 2306 Sherwood Dr., Council Bluffs, IA . It was Dons wish to be scattered at sea with full Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to the family and they would like to thank Dr. Ippolito and Hospice with Heart.
