Donald W. Thompson, 80 years, Silver City, Iowa, passed away April 26, 2017 at his residence with his loved ones surrounding him. He was born September 24, 1936 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated from the Beebeetown High School. After high school, he married Helen (Dideriksen) Thompson and worked for the Larson Farms until serving his country with the United States Air Force for four years. When he returned from the service he worked for a period of time with Griffin Pipe and then worked from 1994 to 2001 with the Waterloo Mills Company. However, he was a farmer his lifetime, as well as having a true passion for restoring and painting old and antique tractors. He was a member of the Silver City United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna (Olsen) Thompson; an infant brother and his sister, Nancy Lee Thompson.
He is survived by his son, Darin (Mary) Thompson; daughter, Darlyn Thompson; grandchildren; Alyssa Thompson, Jacob Good and Jordyn Swanstrom; his very significant other, Laura Ronfeldt and her children, Diana (Greg) Ring, Teresa (Jack) Stageman, Laurene (Stan) Wood and Curtis Ronfeldt.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday 3 to 5PM at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday 1PM at the funeral Home as well. Interment will be in the Hazel Dell Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
