Donna Schnoor

Donna Leon (Mott) Schnoor passed away on October 14th, 2023 on the Schnoor family farm, outside of Silver City, Iowa.

She was born on October 8, 1930 on a farm, South of Malvern, Iowa to John and Ruby (Rommel) Mott. She grew up in Silver City, Iowa and was cared for by her maternal grandparents, Henry and Grace Rommel. Donna graduated from Silver City High School in 1948. She married Bernard D. Schnoor on October 22, 1949 at Silver City United Methodist Church. They were blessed with two children, James and Jann. Donna was an active member in the Silver City United Methodist Church, serving on many committees, teaching Sunday School, leading the Jr. Choir, and serving as Superintendent of the Sunday School. She was the President of the Farm Bureau Women's Committee for many years and was committed to promoting the value of farm wives and their role on the farm. She was an amazing cook who made many meals for family, friends, and farmhands. She is known most widely for her angel food cakes and deviled eggs. She was a connoisseur of fashion, fine dining, and travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Mott; her husband, Bernard (Benny) Schnoor; and her great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Hessel.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kim; daughter and son-in-law, Jann and Dan Strutzenberg; grandchildren, Katherine Hessel (Kyle), Jamie Schnoor, Aunna Petitt (Zach), Abigail Strutzenberg; great-grandchildren, Eva Hessel, Jack Hessel, Emmett Hessel, Reid Hessel, many extended relatives and dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Interment is in Silver City Cemetery. The family will direct memorials in Donna's Honor.
