Dorothy D. Brown

Dorothy D. Brown, age 87, of Council Bluffs passed away August 8, 2016. She was born in Laramie, Wyoming on October 16, 1928 to the late Glenn and Maude (Sutherland) Brown. Dorothy graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1946. She attended college at Omaha University, earning a Masters Degree. She taught elementary in Des Moines and Omaha. Dorothy later taught English and was the coordinator of scholastic art and writing program at Iowa Western Community College. She was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her nephew, Robert Barrow. Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Barbara Oamek of Crescent, Iowa and Judy Barrow of Woodward, Iowa; nieces and nephews. Funeral service is 11:00a.m. on Friday at Broadway United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the church during the hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service and interment will be later that afternoon in the Garner Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Broadway United Methodist Church.
