Douglas Gene Shuster was born in Ontario, Oregon, on March 30, 1948, to Wayne and Velma Wise Shuster, the youngest of five children. He passed away on February 12, 2019, at his home in Omaha, Nebraska, after a long illness with a rare degenerative neurological disease.
In 1960, at the age of 12, Doug made his choice to serve the Lord and remained true to that for the rest of his life. In 1974 he married Sharon (Shari) Brown Shuster in Portland, Oregon. A daughter, Jacqueline (Jacquie) Rose Shuster was born. Doug worked as a machinist, welder and in business management until 2010.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sheralee, and both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Shari; daughter, Jacquie; and daughters and sons of the heart, Melissa Chardeen of Des Moines, Iowa, Steve and Melinda Eckel of Omaha, Sev and Jason Linder of Lincoln, Jamie and John Myers of Omaha; five grandchildren of the heart, Myra and Garrett Linder and Logan, Addilyn and Peyton Myers; a brother and wife Delno and Gloria Shuster of McKinleyville, California, sister Glenda Peterson of Cheney, Washington, and sister Opal Shuster of Boise, Idaho. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
From the time he learned of his terminal illness Doug said, “The best is yet ahead.” He was never afraid of dying and felt he was going on to all he had lived for in this earthly body.
Memorial service is 2:00p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. The family will direct memorials.
