At the age of 17, he worked at a stable to buy his first horse and has had horses since 1970. He and the whole family enjoyed many trail rides throughout many states, including the River City Round Up trail ride with the Ak Sar Ben Rodeo. His team of ponies brought much joy to Duane and many others for over 25 years when they would participate in parades in Texas, Missouri and other states.
