Edna Joan Meyer passed away December 1, 2023 in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 79.

Edna was born on June 7, 1944 to Edward J DenBeste and Elvena E (Kempers) DenBeste in Orange City, IA. She was proud of her heritage and some of her fondest childhood memories as a little girl were participating in the Dutch traditions such as "scrubbing the streets" in traditional costume at the annual Tulip festival.

Later her family moved to Mapleton, IA where she graduated from High School in 1961. Soon after, her family moved to Sioux City, IA. There her parents owned/ran the Sioux Circle Motel/Diner where Edna and some of her siblings worked. There she met her husband of 39 years, Robert F Meyer. "Bob" and Edna were united in marriage June 30, 1963 in Sioux City, IA. Later they would make Council Bluffs their life-long home and raise their two daughters; Christine and Michelle.

Edna was employed in banking for 45 years at various banks beginning with the Stockyards Bank in Sioux City until her retirement from First National Bank of Omaha, making many life-long friends along the way.

Edna was an avid reader and always enjoyed a good story. Spending time with family and friends was one of her greatest joys. She was so proud and amazed to be a "G-ma" and "GG-ma" to her 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She loved anything Elvis, angels and Hawaii.

Surviving her are her two daughters and their spouses, Brian & Chris Lorentzen and Dave & Michelle Niemeyer; her brother, Eugene & Jackie DenBeste; her sister, Elaine Fenceroy; her sisters-in-law, Linda and Patty DenBeste; her 10 grandchildren, Brooke, Roger, Evan, Dillon, Jillianne, Ethan, Kaitlyn, Brian, Megan and Taylor; and her 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, "Bob" Meyer; her brothers, Edwin J and Edgar J DenBeste; her sister, "Ellie" Moore Thomas; her brothers-in-law, Mason Moore and Carl Fenceroy; her sister-in-law, Carol DenBeste and her great-grandson; Graysen Kinney.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Hoy Kilnoksi Funeral Home. Interment is in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
