Elsie C. Strohbehn

Elsie C. Strohbehn, age 90, passed away April 12, 2015 at Risen Son Christian Village. She was born at home in rural Treynor, Iowa on July 2, 1924 to the late Willy and Emilia (Kaiser) Schmidt. Elsie was baptized at St. Pauls Lutheran Church and later confirmed in the church. She graduated from Treynor High School with the class of 1942 and married Leonard Strohbehn on June 20, 1945. Elsie was a longtime member of Zion Congregational Church and within the church was a member of Dorcas Aid, Kupples Klub and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a volunteer at Jennie Edmundson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Strohbehn; son, Gordon Strohbehn; sisters, Gertrude Schmidt and Wilma Burger; brother, Oswald Schmidt. Elsie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Julie Strohbehn and Bryce and Kim Strohbehn; sister, Lillie Schneider; sister-in-law, Betty Schmidt; brother-in-law, Roland Burger; grandchildren: Nicole Gunkel (Jon), Blake Brown (Angela), Brandon Strohbehn (Nicole Nepomuceno), Leah Santini (Moe), Kevin Strohbehn, Kurtis Strohbehn, Kyle Strohbehn (Emily), Jason Strohbehn (Annie), Elli Strohbehn; great grandchildren: Khalina Santini and Jordyn Brown; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends. Visitation is Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Zion Congregational Church in Treynor, Iowa. Funeral service is Friday 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment is in the Zion Congregational Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Treynor Fire and Rescue or Zion Congregational Church.
