Emery was born on June 12, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska to Emery & Bertha Weinfurtner. He grew up in East Omaha and attended Pershing Elementary School with his future wife, Delores. They grew up together, from a young age then to dating, getting married and having 3 daughters. While at Pershing, he enjoyed many activities and really aced sleeping in class.
Emery and Delores met at six years of age on Avenue K around 1955, after Delores‘s dog bit his brother, so it was love at first bite. After dating for two years they were married August 12, 1966. Their first pregnancy was rough but they welcomed their first daughter Lynn in 1967. In 1968 their second daughter Lorrie was born and then in 1973 their youngest Lisa was born. Emery and Delores happily have eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
Emery was a long haul truck driver for 32 years. He knew the roads so well that you could call him from just about any location and he could get you going in the right direction, he was our GPS before there was a GPS.
Over the last year he had his ups and downs, mostly staying in good spirits. He looked forward to those who came for a visit, always trying to make others laugh. In the last four months he had started studying the Bible with his daughter Lisa, who is a Jehovah’s Witness. After listening in on his granddaughters Bible study sessions his interest grew and his determination to know more about the Bible became evident.
He was very caring and would do anything he could for those he cared about. We look forward to the day we get to welcome him back he was loved.
