Ernest Gutha

Ernest LeRoy Gutha, age 92, of Council Bluffs passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

He was born on July 14, 1932 in Schenectady County, New York. Ernest served in the U.S. Army from 1954 through 1956. He married Zelda Burton on December 10, 1954. In 1961, Ernie answered his calling to serve the Lord as a Presbyterian Minister. He served as Pastor for Churches throughout the Midwest, including Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. In 1984, he expanded his Ministry, becoming a Chaplain for the V.A. Hospital in Omaha, NE. On December 10, 2024, Ernest and Zelda celebrated their 70th Anniversary.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Zelda; sons, Charles (Cindy) Gutha and Robert (Deanna) Gutha; daughters, Nadine (William) Parsons and Sonja Shaffer; and a multitude of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, January 24, 2025 with a Reception to follow in the Community Room at the funeral home.
