Everett Carl Wilson, age 80 passed away at Jennie Edmundson Hospital July 24, 2022.
Carl was born November 22, 1941, to the late Everett and Mildred (Fowler) Wilson in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated from Underwood High School with the class of 1960.
Carl began his landscaping career with Perry Landscaping, however in 1962 Carl joined the National Guard and served in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri for basic training, and finished in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Upon his return to Iowa, he worked for the state of Nebraska for 1 year. In 1963 Carl married Judy Jorgensen. To this union were born 3 sons, Bill, Neil and Ryan. He then returned to Perry Landscaping and worked until 1975 when he started his own landscaping business called Wilson Landscaping, which he operated until retirement in 2007. While working, Carl did many projects throughout the city of Council Bluffs and the county.
Carl was an avid outdoor lover and could often be found on a tractor, dozer, hunting in the woods, fishing, gardening, mowing, or sitting on his swing at the bottom of the hill.
He was a lover of all animals, enjoying bird watching in the back yard, turkeys in the field, and deer and wildlife in the woods. Carl’s many interests also included a good Nascar race on the weekend and sponsoring the Wilson Landscaping Bowling League where he and Judy enjoyed time with many good friends over the years. Carl was also a handy-man and jack-of-all-trades having built his own home, helped to build his sons’ homes, as well as many other projects. He could often also be found at Henry’s playing cribbage or shooting the bull with friends and neighbors at the bottom of the hill and was known for his generosity in always being willing to help a friend in need, sharing some produce from his garden, clearing snow from a driveway, or spending time enjoying the simple things in life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Viola Lawrence.
Carl is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy Wilson; sons, Bill (Michele), Neil (Toni), Ryan (significant other, Laurel Corley), and sister, Rosie Benson.
