Floyd J Fischer, age 89, of Council Bluffs, passed away on November 19, 2016.
Floyd was born on July 3, 1927 to the late Julius and Lydia (Eberhardt) Fischer. Floyd graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. He was a farmer all of his life and a member of Saint John Lutheran Church. Floyd was a Board member of Farmland, FarMarCo, Farm Service Co-op, Pony Creek Drainage District and Lewis Central School Board among others. As a young man, he received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award. Floyd loved the Lord and his family. He was a joy to be around and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. He sang in many weddings and funerals throughout his life. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Arlon Fischer; sister, Lois Lamberson; son, Steve Fischer; and granddaughter, Carly Fischer.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Norma (Benson) Fischer; sons, Jim Fischer and his wife, Becky, Curt Fischer and his wife, Denise; daughter, Phyllis Grafel and her husband, John; sister, Mildred Doty; grandchildren, Brett Fischer and his wife, Jessie, Nichole Tews and her husband, Ben, Cody Fischer, Juston Grafel, Jackson Grafel and his wife, Kortnie; great-grandchildren, Logan, Liv, and Dane Fischer, Anna and Isaac Tews, Jaylin, Adalie, and Zachary Grafel.
A memorial service will be held at the Saint John Lutheran Church on Friday, December 16, at 4:00 p.m. with a visitation the hour prior to the service. A reception with the family will follow the service in the church hall. Memorials are suggested to Saint John Lutheran Church or Risen Son Christian Village.
