Franklin Howard Geiger

Franklin Howard Geiger, age 87, of Minden, Iowa passed away May 21, 2014. He was born in McClelland, Iowa on May 26, 1926, to the late Mathias Geiger and Minnie (Gruneau) Geiger. He joined the Navy and served his country in the Philippines during WWII. Franklin managed the McClelland branch of the Council Bluffs Savings Bank, retiring in 1989. He was also owner-operator of Geiger Hatchery from 1947-1966. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sons, Mathias and Mark Geiger. Franklin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth (Buck) Geiger; daughter-in-law, Maren Geiger; granddaughters, Chantell Geiger, Rachel Geiger-Yurkovich (Eric), Miriam Geiger; great-grandchildren, Aaran, Ashlee, Eden and Drake Geiger, Lydia and Eleanor Yurkovich and special friend, Dennis Dargin. Franklins wish was to be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 28th. Memorials are suggested to The Heart Foundation or the Minden Fire & Rescue.
