Galen M. Dobbs

Galen Michael Dobbs, age 67, of Arnold, Missouri, formerly of Council Bluffs and the Omaha area, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 at St. Anthonys Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Galen was born on April 2, 1947 in Rock Island, Illinois to George Russell and Ida Mae (Minge) Dobbs. He was introduced to Pamela Smith, and on April 3, 1982 the couple was united in marriage. Galen worked as a maintenance engineer at Wonder Bread. After his retirement in 2012, he continued to find projects to keep busy and piddle around. He enjoyed Keno, cats and swimming in the backyard pool with friends and neighbors. He especially loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Galen was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Stolarskyj. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Pam Dobbs; his children: Kelly Powell (Todd), Scott Jensen, Kerry VanRooyan (Mitchell), and Kim Plantenberg (Tony); 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Wilma Vincent and brother, Howard Dobbs (Natalie), special uncle, Howard Dobbs (Donna); brother-in-law, Dr. Alex Stolarskyj; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation with the family is Tuesday 6-8PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 2PM, both at the funeral home. Interment is in the Walnut Hill Cemetery followed by a luncheon in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
