Gary Edward Greeley was born March 16, 1942 to Margaret and Floyd Greeley in North Platte, Nebraska. Gary and his family moved to Hamlet, Nebraska in 1946, where he attended Hamlet Grade School, and graduated from Wauneta High School in 1960.
Gary met the love of his life, Dawanna (Spady) Greeley in Imperial, Nebraska where they were later married July 27, 1963, They resided in Imperial, Nebraska until 2003, when they moved to Hamlet, Nebraska into the Greeley family home. They lived in Hamlet until March 2021, when they moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he resided until his death on July 8, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Gary and Dawanna enjoyed riding horses, and team roping together, being active members of the Southwest Nebraska Roping Club for many years. Gary and Dawanna traveled locally to area roping clubs, many times taking home the buckles. Gary was a class A header, and Dawanna was his heeler, and this was their passion for decades. Gary and Dawanna moved to Champion Highway in 1975, where they resided until 2003, when they moved to Hamlet.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd & Margaret (Brown) Greeley; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Donna Spady; sister, Patricia (Greeley) Roth; brother, Jim Greeley and sister-in-law, Mary Greeley; brother, Terry Greeley; nieces, Jennifer (Knudsen) Bergsten, Annabeth (Greeley) Longhofer; and nephew, Adam Spady.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Dawanna (Spady) Greeley; daughters, Kerry (Greeley) Weiss and Jami Greeley; granddaughter, Shelbi Greeley; and grandsons, Jack Weiss, Samuel Greeley, and Carlos Brown; great-grandchildren, Levi Greeley, Ahlana and Christopher (Juney) Burden, and Ezra Weiss; sister, Sheila (Greeley) Knudsen and husband Jim, sister-in-law, Gwen Greeley, Gary and Sharon Spady, Dwight Spady, Lennie and Teri Spady, and Kyle and Dana Spady; numerous nieces; nephews; and dozens of cousins.

Memorial service is October 21, 2023, at the Wauneta Community Hall from 12-2 PM (Mountain time) Luncheon will be served.
