Gary Delanty, age 80, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his 3 girls, on November 17, 2021. He was born July 13, 1941 to George and Geraldine (Ostdiek) Delanty in Neola, IA.
In his early years, Gary enjoyed going to Playland Speedway and Sunset Speedway to watch the Stock Car Races. He enjoyed fishing and taking his girls on family summer trips. Gary worked as a Mill Operator at Kellogg’s for 31 years, retiring in 2002.
After retirement, Gary moved to Florida to relax in the warmer weather. In 2017, Gary moved back to Council Bluffs and made his home with his daughter, Shelly and her husband Bob and grandson, Dawson. Gary enjoyed all the Western Channels on TV, watching Gunsmoke on a daily basis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Pat Schlautman; and grandson, Jeff Delanty.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Teresa (Steven) Rains, Shelly (Bob) Redden and Lisa (Tim) Roland; sisters, Jeanette Blair, Phyllis Root, Donna Anderson, Kay (Larry) Brownfield, Karen (Frank Hickey) Allen, Connie Hook, Pam (Ralph) Cruz; 6 grandchildren, Chad Rains, Tony (Natasha) Rains, Tara (Jason) Siders, Bridgett Potter, Justin (Brooke) Redden, and Derick (Megan) Delanty; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to St. Croix Hospice or Midlands Humane Society.
