Gerald “Jerry” Carson was born on October 25, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska to Harvey and Bessie (Shadden) Carson. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1947 and moved to Pinedale, Wyoming to work as a cowboy on a cattle ranch. After his time in Wyoming, Jerry played catcher on a semi-pro baseball team and later enlisted in the Air Force. He served in Labrador, Nova Scotia during the Korean Conflict. He retired as Vice President at FBG, Inc. and had worked as bank examiner, at a finance company and sold real estate.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Darlene Greenwood and Barbara Koory; and his brothers, Roland and Robert Carson.
Jerry leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Marjorie (Hunter) Carson; his daughters and sons-in-law, Amy Thompson (Ed), Trisha Gillespie (Lee) and Colleen Brabec (Frank); grandchildren, Pat Gillespie, Nolan Gillespie, Carson Gillespie, Elric Thompson, Sarah Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Emma Thompson and Andy Brabec; sisters, LeMae Dupuis, Joyce Pittman and Donna Prince; his brother, Earnest “Sonny” Carson (Darlene); many loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday evening at the Community of Christ – Central Congregation starting at 6PM and a memorial service at 7PM. Burial will be in Thurman, Iowa at a later date. The family will direct memorials.
