Gloria Ann (Pitt) Martin

Gloria Ann (Pitt) Martin, age 86, of Glendale, Arizona passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

Gloria was born March 19, 1937, to Lawrence Rodney Pitt and Edith May Godden Pitt near Logan, Harrison County, Iowa.  She graduated from Logan Iowa High School in 1955.  She married Larry Eldo Martin on May 02, 1955.  She relocated with her husband after living for over 20 years in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Glendale, Arizona in 1983. 

She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother, she loved her husband Larry and son Dan, she loved her God and Lord Jesus Christ, and she greatly loved and missed her Family and Friends.  She enjoyed writing Poetry, Jigsaw puzzles, Solitaire and playing Pitch and Pinochle card games.  She was an accomplished published poet with over 1000 Poems published in various newspapers, magazines, books in many states, including being published in the U.S. Congressional Record in 1973, being in Who's Who of American Women, The World's Who's Who of Women and being the Vice President and President Elect of the Iowa Poetry Association in 1983, she had published 4 poetry collections, she produced the Glowing Lanternes publications in the 1970s, she taught Poetry at Peterson Elementary School in Council Bluffs Iowa, she was on a half hour T.V. program discussing poetry, and she invented the Glorionic Sonnet.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Edith Pitt; her husband Larry Eldo Martin of 54 years; brother Norman Eugene "Gene" Pitt and wife Evelyn; brother Marion Pitt and wife Norma; and sister Marilyn Pitt Clinkenbeard and husband Kenneth.

Gloria is survived by her son Larry "Dan" Martin of Glendale, AZ; sister Karen Pitt Lenninger Schreiner and husband Robert Lenninger of Ankeny, IA; sister Janice "Jan" Pitt Spencer and husband William of Crescent, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Interment will be at the Garner Township Cemetery at 1372 Jennings Avenue Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.
