Grahame Leslie Savage, born July 11, 1944, only child of Dorothy and Charles (Charlie) Savage passed away peacefully at his home on March 22, 2025. He was born and raised in Sheffield, England where he started working on the shop floor at the age of 15. At age 20 he met Carole and 2 years later they were married.
Grahame set an example for his family that hard work and sacrifices pay off as he worked full time and attended night school to obtain his Bachelor of Science Degree while having two young children at home. He has lived and worked in three different countries (England, The Netherlands and the USA) and eventually retired from Maxal in Traverse City, MI as Vice-President of marketing and sales.
After residing in Traverse City, MI for 20 years, he moved with Carole to Council Bluffs in 2019 to be closer to their daughter. He traveled the world for his work and sometimes his wife was able to accompany him. He had many fond memories and stories of his travels. Even after retirement he and Carole continued to travel and were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in England. The past few years, he was no longer able to travel overseas but was still able to enjoy trips to Colorado with his family.
He enjoyed singing in the church choir, cycling and playing golf in his spare time. Recently he found a passion for painting. He was always the life and soul of a party and the jokester at any gathering.
Grahame was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; his three children Andrew (Debbie) Savage of Preston, England, Christopher Savage of Arbouet-Sussante, France, and Helen (Lisa) Broadway-Savage of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and grandson, Oliver Savage.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He has left a mark on many people and his memory will live on with all of us.
Visitation will be Thursday March 27 from 5PM to 7PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
