Harry Willie Burk, age 77, was born June 13, 1940 in Nashville, Tennessee to James and Pauline Burk.
He grew up in Tampa, Florida with his two brothers and one sister. He joined the Army and served his country honorably.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart. He was wounded during a mission as a helicopter gunner. He was left in the jungle for a week with no food or water. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him. He served for 24 years. Upon retirement he worked at the Post Office for 15 years.
He was stationed in Angouleme, France in 1960 where he met the love of his life Lucile at the NCO Club in August and married her a few short months later. They were married for 57 years.
He passed away surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by a wife, Lucile; three children, Maurice (Patti) Burk, Barbara (Rudy) Saloma, Patricia (Pete) Willadsen. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Kristina (Aaron) Jenkins, Stacy Saloma, Leah (Craig) Hendrix, Jessica Willadsen, Dillon Willadsen, Willie Burk, Samuel Burk and Maddie Burk; four great grandchildren; siblings, Peggy (Pat) Gallegos, and Robert Burk.
Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral is Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. He will be interred at Lewis Township Cemetery. Memorials will be directed by the family.
