Herbert Herb Leroy Townsend

Herbert Herb LeRoy Townsend, age 80, passed away February 6, 2016 at his home in Council Bluffs. He was born in Omaha, NE on June 20, 1935 to the late Albert and Matilda (Schiernbeck ) Townsend. Herb proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Rainbow Post #2. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle and brother, Roger. Herb is survived by his wife, Susette (Nixon); children, Jean, Terry, Scott, Jeri, and Michael; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and niece, Debbie. Visitation is 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will in the Garner Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Southwest Iowa.
