Ira J. Collins

Ira J. Collins, age 80, of Underwood, Iowa, passed away January 7, 2019.

He was born in Neola, Iowa on April 8, 1938 to the late Ira W. and Helen F. (Whitmore) Collins. Ira proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from the Omaha World Herald.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Collins; sister, Lois Short; great granddaughter, Jaileigh Posey.

Ira is survived by his wife, Marlene Collins; children, Colleen Wells (Craig Jr.), Ira Collins (Angie), Rohn Collins (Dave Magnuson), David Collins (Brenda Centamore; siblings, Edna Hinkel, Marvin Collins (Shirley), Lyle Collins (Pat), Carol Sue McMullin, Ruthann Huff (Bill), Steve Collins; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Visitation is 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. on Thursday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Graveside service is 10:00a.m. on Friday in the Crescent, Iowa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to AseraCare Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
