Jack A. O'Brien

Jack A. OBrien, age 83, of Council Bluffs passed away August 13, 2014 at Risen Son Christian Village. He was born in Mason City, Iowa on October 12, 1930 to the late John & Wilhelmina (Vogel) OBrien. After high school, He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After the service he completed Hamiltons Business School in Mason City and worked as a certified public accountant for nearly 50 years. He was very involved in the community. He was a member and past president of the Council Bluffs Business Association, Kiwanis, the Shriners, Jaycees, the Council Bluffs Water Board and had once served as the mayor of Shenandoah, Iowa. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Scott OBrien; son-in-law, Jeff Rindone; brothers, Hurschel, Richard and Dean OBrien. Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy OBrien; daughters, Jacqueline Rindone and Denise Thompson (David); son, Russell OBrien; 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with a funeral service to begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Graveside service will take place on Monday in the Ridgewood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army or the Open Door Mission.
